Dr John Stocker AO

Following his medical studies at the University of Melbourne, and residency at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, John embarked on a career in medical research. He was a member of the Basel Institute for immunology in Switzerland and joined Hoffman La-Roche and Co in the company's central research unit.

He became Roche's Director of Pharmaceutical Research in 1986. He returned to Australia in 1987 to become founding Managing Director of AMRAD Corporation Ltd. From 1990-1995 he served as Chief Executive Officer of CSIRO.

He was appointed Chief Scientist to the Commonwealth Government in 1996. He has been a member of the Prime Minister's Science, Engineering and Innovation Council, the Australian Research Council and Chairman of the Australian Science Technology and Engineering Council (ASTEC).

He is a Director of several public companies including Cambridge Antibody Technology plc where he also Chairs the Scientific Advisory Committee.
